Types of insect trap
The insect trap principle is, in short, to attract and kill insects, and specifically, it is divided according to the type of insect trap and can be largely divided into electric and non-electric insect trap.
Electric insect traps are again classified into light-type insect traps, thermal insect traps, colored insect traps, and odor-type insect traps, and non-electric insect traps are classified into adhesive insect traps, chemical insect traps, and biological methods, according to the method of insecticide.
The principle of the electric insect trap is as follows.
- Light Insect trap : Install fluorescent or LED lights that can shine a strong light at night using the strong response of pests to light, and kill pests that have been pulled into the light by hitting the wire network with an electric current.
- UV insect trap : Similar to light-type insect trap, UV lamps generate UV wavelengths (360 to 365 nm) that insects love, attracting them and then burning them with electricity to kill them.
- Thermal Insects trap : Using pests that react strongly to heat, install heating wires or thermal cells, and kill pests that have been pulled into the heat by hitting the wire net with current.
- Color Insect trap : Using pests that react strongly to certain colors, install surfaces or films of colors such as blue or yellow, and kill pests that have been pulled into the color by hitting the wire net with an electric current.
- Smell Insect trap : Using pests’ strong reactions to certain odors, install handouts such as vegetable oils and pheromones, and kill pests pulled into the odor by hitting the wire network with an electric current.
The non-electric insect trap principle is as follows.
- Adhesive insect trap : The method of attracting pests is similar to that of an electric insect trap, but the method of insect repelling pests uses glued surfaces or films instead of wire mesh to trap them.
- Chemical Insect trap : The method of attracting pests is similar to that of an electric insect trap, but the method of insecticide uses toxic chemicals or gases instead of wire nets, killing or fainting pests.
- Biological Method : Using a natural enemy or pathogen of a pest, kill or infect it. For example, deploy the fly’s natural enemies, warts and ant lions, or spread germs and viruses that are mosquito pathogens.
Recently sold insect traps use electric insect traps a lot, and light-type and UV insect traps are the most used.
